Job overview
We are seeking a Marketing & Business Development Executive to join our growing team. This role suits someone who is still developing professionally but confident managing tasks independently, juggling multiple activities, and proactively supporting communications across the business. Experience in the sector is beneficial but not essential for someone eager to learn.
You will contribute to activity across external communications, internal communications, member engagement, event support, digital content, and BD coordination. You will work across Elliott Wood, Society Building, and The Building Archives, ensuring our brand, values and projects are represented with clarity, consistency and creativity. This is a varied role, ideal for someone with strong organisational skills, excellent written and visual communication, and an interest in sustainability, the built environment, and communityâcentred initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Draft, edit and schedule social media content across LinkedIn, Instagram and other relevant channels.
- Support the creation of written, visual and digital content (copy, imagery, video clips, case studies).
- Assist with updating and maintaining website content across Elliott Wood and subâbrands.
- Produce and coordinate internal communications, including announcements, newsletters and intranet updates.
- Capture content at events, workshops and talks (photos, short videos, quotes, notes) for use across digital channels.
- Coordinate Society Building member communications, newsletters and updates.
- Support event listings, digital signage and dayâtoâday community messaging.
- Maintain the Digital Asset Management system (OpenAsset), ensuring imagery and metadata are accurate and up to date.
- Manage image sourcing and permissions.
- Provide design and layout support using existing templates (InDesign/Canva/PowerPoint).
- Coordinate event invitations, guest lists, RSVPs and logistics.
- Support with the preparation of BD materials including CVs, presentations and case studies.
- Support BD meetings with notes, actions and followâup.
- Assist with coordination and preparation of CPDs, industry events and award submissions.
Skills and Experience Required
- 1-3 years experience in communications, marketing, business development or admin coordination within a professional services environment (built environment experience desirable but not required).
- Ability to support stakeholder coordination and assist with events, meetings and followâup activity.
- Experience using digital tools such as social media platforms, Content Management System (CMS), email marketing software or CRM systems.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, work to deadlines and maintain accuracy.
- Production of marketing or BD collateral such as presentations, newsletters or reports.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Clear and confident written and verbal communication.
- Able to prioritise effectively in a busy environment.
- Collaborative team member who can also work independently when required.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience (marketing or communications degrees desirable but not required).
- Strong IT skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and/or Canva.
- Skills in CRM platforms and data management.
