We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and support multiple database platforms across production environments. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and database security technologies such as Oracle Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and Hardware Security Module (HSM). The role will be responsible for ensuring database availability, performance, security, backup, recovery, and compliance while supporting application teams and business-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and support multiple database platforms including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL.
- Manage and support Oracle Encryption / Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and Hardware Security Module (HSM) environments.
- Monitor database health, performance, availability, and capacity, and proactively address issues before they impact services.
- Perform database backup activities, restoration testing, and disaster recovery planning.
- Manage Oracle RAC environments and perform RMAN backup and recovery activities.
- Apply database patches, upgrades, and security fixes in line with approved change management processes.
- Manage database users, roles, privileges, and permissions in compliance with security and access control policies.
- Perform query tuning, index management, and configuration optimisation to improve database performance.
- Support application teams with database-related issues, schema changes, deployments, and release activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents within defined SLA timeframes.
- Work within structured ITSM processes for incident, change, problem, and service request management.
- Maintain accurate database documentation, configuration records, operational procedures, and support guides.
- Ensure database environments comply with internal security, audit, and regulatory requirements.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator / DBA in a production environment.
- Hands-on expertise with two or more of the following: Oracle Database, Oracle RAC, Oracle RMAN backup and recovery, Oracle Transparent Data Encryption / TDE, Hardware Security Module / HSM, Microsoft SQL Server / MSSQL, MySQL.
- Strong experience in database performance tuning, query optimisation, and index management.
- Good understanding of database backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Experience managing database patches, upgrades, and security fixes.
- Strong knowledge of database security, access control, user privileges, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to support application teams on database changes, deployments, and production issues.
- Experience working within structured ITSM frameworks for incident, change, and problem management.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple database environments.
Nice to Have
