Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer (Routing and Switching) to manage and support our enterprise network infrastructure. The role involves ensuring the availability, performance, and security of all network systems, as well as providing onsite support, proactive monitoring, and change management in a mission-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Network Operations and On-site Support
· Review network logs daily to identify and resolve anomalies.
· Install, maintain, and upgrade network hardware, firmware, and software.
· Fine-tune network/system parameters to optimize performance.
· Patch/re-patch cables and ensure proper labelling of all cabling and equipment.
· Manage user accounts and access rights in compliance with AAA (Authentication, Authorization, Accounting) principles.
· Administer IP address assignments and IP management schemes.
· Connect approved devices to the LAN and perform physical access control.
· Troubleshoot and resolve network issues in a timely manner.
· Maintain up-to-date documentation on configurations, cabling, and user access.
· Perform routine network configuration backups.
Network Security and Administration
· Configure and maintain firewall rules and security settings.
· Administer network-related and security-related user accounts.
· Support change management processes, including configuration changes, patch applications, and encryption key updates.
· Enforce physical and logical access controls in network environments.
· Provide standby support for network upgrades, power/UPS testing, and infrastructure maintenance.
Performance Monitoring and Maintenance
· Proactively monitor network equipment and links to meet SLA and performance targets.
· Perform weekly verification checks to ensure services are operational before support hours.
· Housekeep network configurations and firewall rules regularly.
· Analyse network statistics to identify potential bottlenecks or capacity issues.
· Perform root cause analysis and coordinate L2/L3 issue resolutions.
· Maintain hardware/software lease and maintenance contract records.
· Tune system parameters based on usage patterns and performance analysis.
Change Management
· Configure routing/switching equipment and security appliances.
· Apply firmware/software patches and perform updates as needed.
· Assign IPs, configure firewall/security settings, and support third-party equipment integration.
· Track and document all changes according to policy.
Production Operations
· Ensure continuous availability of network services (excluding hardware failures).
· Execute scheduled jobs per customer specifications.
· Provide operations and admin support for all network and security infrastructures.
Mandatory:
· Willing to be part of 24×7 standby rotation
Skills and Experience:
· At least 5 years of hands-on experience in:
· Configuring Cisco, Alcatel routers/switches
· Managing firewalls, wireless networks, load balancers, IDS/IPS systems
Strong knowledge and proficiency in:
· Network technologies and protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, VLANs, etc.)
· Performance monitoring and traffic pattern analysis
· Firewall configuration and security enforcement
· Troubleshooting and fine-tuning network infrastructure
Certifications:
· Cisco Certified Network Engineer (e.g., CCNA/CCNP) or equivalent certification is required
Preferred Skills:
· Experience with enterprise-class monitoring tools
· Familiarity with security compliance in government/regulated environments
· Effective documentation and technical writing skills
