Our client is a specialist provider of civils packages, deeply embedded within the UK’s infrastructure and rail sectors. With a strong reputation for excellence and long-standing partnerships with tier-one, blue-chip organisations, the company has played a key role in delivering many of the nation’s most high-profile projects. The business is entering a significant growth phase, transforming its commercial structure and investing heavily in new roles that will unlock dormant client relationships and expand its presence across the UK. As part of this evolution, they are now seeking a dynamic, credible Sales Director to drive new business and shape the future of the organisation.

This is a newly created, high-impact role that places you at the forefront of the company’s business development strategy. You will be responsible for generating new business across the infrastructure and rail sectors, re-engaging a portfolio of inactive tier-one clients, and building a long-term, sustainable pipeline of major project opportunities. Operating with full autonomy in a home-based, national capacity, you will be trusted to design and deliver your own sales approach, working closely with the senior leadership team to capture growth opportunities and position the company as a market-leading partner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive proactive new business development across the UK’s infrastructure and rail markets
  • Reactivate dormant client relationships and expand the company’s reach into tier-one organisations
  • Build a robust, strategic sales pipeline aligned to long-term major project cycles (12–18 months)
  • Conduct regular in-person client visits across the UK, representing the business with professionalism and credibility
  • Engage with senior decision-makers, understanding their challenges and presenting compelling solutions
  • Map the market to identify new opportunities and support the wider commercial strategy
  • Maintain high levels of organisation, time management, and discipline within a highly autonomous role
You:
  • Proven business development experience within the UK infrastructure and/or rail sectors, ideally selling into tier-one contractors
  • A proactive, self-starting professional who thrives on client-facing work and long sales cycles
  • Able to build strong, patient relationships over 12 month consultative sales processes
  • Credible in front of senior stakeholders at major contractor organisations
  • Highly organised, disciplined, and effective working independently in a home-based environment
  • Willing to travel extensively across the UK
  • Full UK driving licence essential
  • Experience selling plant, materials, or related services into tier-one contractors (desirable not essential)
  • Knowledge of Preferred Supplier Lists (PSLs) (desirable not essential)
  • Understanding of modern bidding requirements including sustainability, social value, and community engagement (desirable not essential)
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary
  • Company car for extensive national travel
  • Commission and bonus scheme rewarding long-term success
  • High levels of autonomy and flexibility in a home-based role
  • Opportunity to build and shape the sales function of a respected, growing business
