We are seeking a committed, compassionate, and resilient Teaching Assistant (Level 2) to join our dedicated team at Elleray Park School Pensby. We are a nurturing and inclusive primary special school for pupils with complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside teachers and other professionals to provide high‑quality support to pupils with a range of needs, including autism, severe learning difficulties, communication needs, and sensory or physical disabilities.
  • Provide support to pupils as part of a team to meet their learning, emotional, and behavioural needs.
  • Support pupils with personal care needs, including toileting, feeding, and mobility (training provided).
  • Use specialist strategies, communication systems such as PECS, and assistive technology to promote pupil engagement and independence.
  • Work closely with class teachers to implement EHCP targets and differentiated lesson plans.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation using school policies and de‑escalation strategies.
  • Maintain a safe, secure and stimulating learning environment.
  • Assist in the preparation of learning resources and classroom organisation.

Safeguarding Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the school's safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
  • Report concerns promptly in accordance with safeguarding and child protection guidelines.
  • Undergo enhanced DBS clearance and provide satisfactory references.
  • Complete mandatory safeguarding and child protection training.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children with complex SEND (desirable but not essential), a relevant Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent, strong interpersonal and communication skills, patience, empathy and a positive attitude, a good understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and a willingness to undertake further training, including in Team Teach or other positive handling approaches.
