Are you an experienced HR professional? This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR generalist who enjoys balancing operational delivery with strategic contribution, and who is passionate about supporting people, managers and organisational development.

We are looking for a Senior HR Adviser to join our HR team and help deliver a high-quality, proactive and people-focused HR service across the organisation.

Working closely with the Head of HR, you will provide expert advice and guidance on a wide range of HR matters, support managers with employee relations casework, and contribute to the continuous improvement of HR policies, processes and people initiatives. The role covers the full employee lifecycle and also includes involvement in volunteering, staff training and development coordination, equality, diversity and inclusion, and wider HR projects.

Key Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Provide practical, solution-focused HR advice and guidance to managers and staff
  • Manage a varied employee relations caseload, including disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence matters
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and wider employee lifecycle processes
  • Contribute to the review, development and implementation of HR policies, procedures and guidance
  • Support staff training and development coordination
  • Contribute to volunteering-related HR activity where required
  • Promote equality, diversity and inclusion through HR policy and practice
  • Maintain accurate HR records, reporting and systems
  • Support continuous improvement across the HR function

Essential requirements of the role include:

  • Experience in a generalist HR advisory role
  • Sound and up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices
  • Strong employee relations experience
  • The confidence to advise and coach managers on people issues
  • Experience of recruitment, onboarding and HR policy development
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A professional, pragmatic and solutions-focused approach
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
  • A CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent experience) is essential.

The post holder must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends to support volunteer events and engagement activity. This post is subject to DBS clearance.
