Hours: 30 hours per week

Location: Hybrid – 3 days on site (Gravesend) and 1 day working remotely

We are looking for an organised, proactive and people-focused HR Volunteering Co‑ordinator to support the day‑to‑day delivery of our volunteering programme. In this important role, you will coordinate volunteer recruitment, onboarding, compliance checks, record‑keeping, engagement activities and ongoing support. You will play a key part in ensuring volunteers have a positive, safe and meaningful experience, while helping the organisation attract, engage and retain a diverse volunteer community. Working closely with managers and colleagues across the organisation, you will help identify volunteering needs, support the development of suitable opportunities, and match volunteers to roles where they can make a real difference.

ellenor is a hospice charity in Gravesend providing palliative and end‑of‑life care within the local community. Key responsibilities
  • Act as the first point of contact for volunteering enquiries and applications
  • Coordinate volunteer recruitment, onboarding and pre‑placement checks, while maintaining accurate and GDPR‑compliant volunteer records
  • Work with managers to identify volunteering needs and develop suitable opportunities
  • Support volunteer engagement, recognition initiatives and events
  • Produce reports on volunteer recruitment, engagement and retention, and use data, feedback and good practice to help improve the volunteer experience
Essential requirements
  • Experience in a coordination, administration or people‑focused support role, ideally within volunteering, HR, recruitment, customer service or a similar environment
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Experience of maintaining accurate records and using systems or databases
  • A professional, responsive and supportive approach
  • An understanding of safer recruitment, safeguarding, GDPR and equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience of supporting events, engagement activities or volunteer programmes would be advantageous
Additional information

The post holder must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends to support volunteer events and engagement activity. This post is subject to DBS clearance. UK Immigration: ellenor is not currently offering sponsorship to candidates under the Skilled Worker visa route in the UK. This decision is a consequence of the changes made to the Skilled Worker route by the UK Government in April 2024.
