We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RGN) with advanced proficiency in Intravenous Therapy/Venipuncture to join our specialist team. You will be responsible for delivering hospital-standard care to private clients, ensuring their transition from hospital to home is seamless, safe, and dignified. Unlike a hospital ward, this role offers you the time to provide holistic, one-to-one care, building rapport with patients while managing complex medication regimes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Delivery: Independent administration of prescribed IV therapies, including antibiotics, anti-emetics, and IV fluids, strictly adhering to clinical protocols.
  • Vascular Access: Competent management of Peripheral Cannulas and Central Venous Access Devices (PICC lines, Hickman lines, Port-a-Caths), including dressing and bung changes, needling ports and flushes.
  • Infection Prevention & Control: Maintaining high standards of infection prevention and control, including educating clients and caregivers on keeping the site clean and recognising early signs of infection.
  • Documentation: Accurate and timely documentation of care delivered, including assessments, VIP scores and medications administered, in line with professional codes of conduct. Promptly escalating any concerns or changes in condition.
  • Patient Monitoring: Continuous monitoring of infusion site for signs of phlebitis/thrombophlebitis or complications, escalating to our Clinical Lead or the patient’s Consultant immediately if required.
  • Venipuncture/Cannulation: Competent in venipuncture/cannulation.
  • Concierge Service: Acting as a professional ambassador for Ellea Nursing in private homes, maintaining absolute discretion, privacy, and a tidy clinical environment.
  • NMC Registration: Active registration with no restrictions.
  • Experience: Minimum 1-year post-qualification experience, ideally within Acute Medicine, A&E, HDU, ITU, or a dedicated IV Homecare team.
  • Technical Skills: Validated competency in Cannulation, Phlebotomy, and IV Drug Administration. Experience with PICC/CVAD’s is highly desirable.
  • Safety Training: Up-to-date BLS and Anaphylaxis training.
  • Attributes: Immaculate presentation, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to work alone as an autonomous practitioner.

Why Join Ellea Nursing?

  • Autonomy: Manage your own schedule with flexible rotas.
  • Time to Care: Escape the rush of the ward and focus entirely on one patient at a time.
  • Competitive Pay: Rates reflective of the specialist skills and private nature of the work.
  • Clinical Governance: Full backing from a clinical lead, you are independent, but never unsupported.
