Manchester’s original and best canalside restaurant, Albert Shed, is on the hunt for a highly motivated and experienced General Manager to lead our team and drive the business forward.
About the Role
As General Manager, you’ll take full ownership of the restaurant’s performance, culture, and guest experience. You’ll lead the front-of-house team while working in close partnership with the Head Chef to ensure the operation runs smoothly and commercially. This role is about strong leadership and clear communication, with a people- and guest-first focus where attention to detail matters and genuine hospitality is the driving force behind everything you do.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the overall restaurant operation to deliver consistently excellent guest experiences
- Working collaboratively with the Head Chef on rotas, planning, and labour efficiency
- Supporting a positive, well-managed FOH and kitchen culture through effective people leadership
- Ensuring compliance across food safety, health & safety, and company standards
- Contributing to revenue forecasting and sales planning, ensuring labour and costs are aligned
- Managing budgets, controlling costs, and driving profitable growth
- Developing and motivating high-performing management and hourly teams
- Acting as a strong brand ambassador for Albert Shed and Elle R Leisure
What Are We Looking For?
- Proven experience as a General Manager or Assistant General Manager in a high-volume, quality-led hospitality environment
- A genuine passion for food, drink, and great hospitality
- Confident leadership style with experience managing large teams
- Strong organisational skills and commercial awareness
- Ability to work collaboratively with kitchen leadership
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
