We’re looking for an empathetic and reliable Resident Assistants (RA) to provide direct support to residents, maintain a welcoming and safe environment, and assist with the day-to-day operations of the residence. Responsible for creating a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for pregnant and parenting college students. The RAs will ensure consistent standards of care, and foster a welcoming, trauma-informed space. Evening shifts are available at this time.
Job Responsibilities
- Attend weekly organizational meeting and/or client-focused meetings.
- Document and report any incidents, resident concerns, or maintenance issues.
- Collaborate with volunteers and other staff to optimize support for residents.
- Ensure adherence to Ella’s House policies, procedures, and standards of care.
Resident Support:
- Provide trauma-informed care and emotional support to residents as needed.
- Assist with daily living tasks, including organizing baby supplies, hosting weekly “family dinner”, and light housekeeping.
- Taught and model essential life skills such as cooking, cleaning, and personal organization.
- Step in to assist with day-to-day resident needs including childcare during high-demand periods.
- Assist with resident transportation as needed.
- Address and de-escalate conflicts or urgent resident needs with professionalism and empathy.
Facility Oversight:
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of shared spaces during shifts.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning and organizational checklists with RAs and Residents.
- Ensure resident rooms and bathrooms meet cleanliness standards.
- Assist in inventory management by inventorying, organizing, and restocking supplies and baby boutique.
Shift Responsibilities:
- Cover designated shifts, including evenings, weekends, and overnight on-call as scheduled.
- Respond promptly to resident needs and document shift activities appropriately.
- Communicate effectively with the staff during shift handoffs.
Qualifications Requirements:
- Proven experience in leadership, supervision, or similar roles, ideally in residential, social work, or community service settings.
- Strong organizational, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries while fostering a supportive environment.
- Commitment to trauma-informed and equitable care practices.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift up to 35lbs, navigate stairs, and perform routine cleaning/organizational tasks.
- Flexibility to address overnight emergencies in collaboration with Ella’s House team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in social work, education, or maternal and child health.
- Experience in residential support or nonprofit settings.
Additional Information
- Compensation: $17-26/h depending on experience and education.
- Government Holidays & 2 week paid vacation off.
- Reimbursed for expenses incurred (i.e. gas, etc.)
