Job Purpose
To provide accurate and efficient bookkeeping and payroll services to a portfolio of clients within a busy accountancy practice, ensuring all financial records, payroll processes and VAT returns are completed in line with deadlines and HMRC regulations. The role also involves handling client queries in a professional manner, maintaining high levels of accuracy, confidentiality and customer service while supporting the smooth running of client accounts.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients
- Process sales, purchase ledgers, invoices and receipts
- Reconcile bank accounts and client statements
- Prepare and post basic journal entries
- Process weekly and monthly payrolls for multiple clients
- Calculate wages, deductions, statutory pay and overtime
- Manage pension auto enrolment and employee changes
- Handle client queries via phone and email with a professional and polite telephone manner
- Processing VAT returns
- Liaise with HMRC and external bodies when required
- Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of all client data
- Work to deadlines in a busy practice environment
