Senior Accounts Assistant
Location: Ilkeston DE7
Salary: £15.38 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00am 5:00pm

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Accounts Assistant for a leading manufacturer. The client has decades of heritage and a reputation for quality, they are proud to deliver industry leading products.
As they continue to grow, they are looking for a skilled and detail Senior Accounts Assistant to support their finance team in delivering accurate, timely financial reporting that informs key business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of the monthly management accounts process, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines
- Prepare and post accruals, prepayments, and journals in line with company policy and accounting standards
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts
- Support month end and year end closing processes, including trial balance reviews and audit preparation
- Maintain fixed asset register and ensure appropriate depreciation calculations
- Assist with VAT returns and other HMRC submissions
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities
- Liaise with internal departments to ensure accurate cost allocations and resolve discrepancies.
- Continuously improve financial processes and controls for efficiency and compliance.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a similar accounts role with responsibility for monthly management accounts
- Strong understanding of accruals, prepayments, and general ledger processes
- AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA/CIMA (or qualified by experience)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (experience with Sage or similar ERP systems desirable)
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload to meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach
