We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Sports Coach to deliver inclusive and engaging physical education and sports activities to children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The ideal candidate will be passionate about making physical activity accessible and enjoyable for all learners, regardless of ability. Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored PE and sports sessions for pupils with SEN, including physical disabilities, autism, and ADHD
- Collaborate with teaching staff and SENCOs to follow individual education and behaviour plans
- Use adaptive strategies and equipment to support participation and enjoyment
- Promote teamwork, resilience, and confidence through sport
- Track pupil progress and provide feedback to schools
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment
- Follow safeguarding and health & safety policies
- Lead extracurricular clubs in mainstream schools and support school sports events and competitions
Essential Requirements
- Relevant coaching qualification (e.g. a minimum of a 1st4Sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching or Sports Degree or Equivalent)
- At least 1 year’s experience working with children and/or young people with SEN in an educational or sports setting
- At least 1 year experience teaching sports/coaching
- Strong understanding of inclusive physical education practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A positive, patient, and flexible approach
- Be at least 18 years old
- A full driving licence with access to own transport
Desirable Requirements
- Up-to-date Enhanced DBS certificate on the DBS update service (can be applied for)
- Safeguarding Certificate (training given)
- Paediatric first aid Certificate (training provided)
