We are seeking proactive, passionate, and patient SEN Support Workers to enable children with additional needs to join peers and thrive at our multi‑activity camps during school holidays. As an SEN support, you will play a vital role in ensuring the needs of SEN children are met throughout the day, ensuring activities are adapted so all children can participate safely and confidently. You will work closely with camp managers, camp coaches, and parents/carers to support the children and promote a positive experience for every child.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 or small‑group support for children with additional needs
- Adapt activities to meet the needs of individual children
- Support children with a variety of needs including disabilities, communication, emotional regulation and behaviour
- Follow and implement support plans and EHCPs where appropriate
- Be familiar with transitional strategies and adapt per child
- Liaise with the camp manager and parents/carers regarding children’s needs and feedback
- Ensure the safety and well‑being of children at all times
- Foster a positive, encouraging and supportive camp atmosphere
- Support behaviour management in line with camp policies and individual needs
- Work collaboratively with peers and camp leadership
- Assist with daily set‑up, pack‑down and general camp duties where needed
Qualifications
- At least 1 year’s experience working with children with Special Education Needs
- Experience working in a school, childcare, coaching or similar environment
- Strong understanding of a variety of special educational needs
- Confident, calm, patient and nurturing approach
- Energetic, reliable and positive attitude
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and child safety
Desirable Requirements
- A full driving licence and own transport
- A relevant SEN qualification
- An up‑to‑date Enhanced DBS certificate on the DBS update service (can be applied for)
- Safeguarding Certificate (training can be given)
Salary & Hours
- Salary: £10.00 – £12.85 per hour depending on age, experience and qualifications.
- Hours: Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 3:30 pm, with no work on weekends or bank holidays.
