About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver with a background in the plant hire industry to join a well-established and growing business based in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional driver who has experience transporting plant machinery and construction equipment. You'll be responsible for the safe delivery and collection of a wide range of plant hire equipment to customer sites, ensuring high standards of safety, customer service, and compliance are maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class 1 (C+E) HGV in line with all DVSA and road transport regulations.
- Deliver and collect plant hire equipment, including excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers, and other construction machinery.
- Load, secure, and unload machinery safely using the correct procedures and equipment.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly.
- Complete delivery paperwork and transport documentation accurately.
- Liaise professionally with customers, site personnel, and the transport team.
- Ensure all deliveries and collections are completed efficiently while maintaining excellent customer service.
- Follow all health and safety procedures and company policies.
Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence.
- Driver CPC qualification.
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Previous experience transporting plant hire or construction equipment.
- Good understanding of load securing and safe loading/unloading practices.
- Strong knowledge of transport legislation and driver compliance.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Reliable, professional, and safety-focused approach.
Desirable
- CPCS, NPORS or other plant-related qualifications.
- Experience operating plant machinery for loading and unloading.
- HIAB licence (advantageous but not essential).
