We are looking to appoint a Technical Assistant / UAV Pilot to support ongoing surveying and construction-related projects. The role involves the safe operation of UAV systems and the collection and processing of geospatial data used to inform design, planning, and delivery across a range of sites.
This position would suit someone with a practical mindset, strong attention to detail, and an interest in aerial surveying technologies and field-based work.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Planning and carrying out UAV flights for survey and mapping work
- Supporting the preparation of flight plans, risk assessments, and site checks
- Operating drones fitted with RTK/PPK systems to gather accurate spatial data
- Helping to establish and verify control points where required
- Processing captured imagery into usable survey outputs such as models, Ortho mosaics, and point clouds
- Working alongside colleagues across surveying, engineering, and project teams to support live projects
- Keeping records of flights, equipment use, and maintenance activity
- Carrying out checks on data quality and resolving issues where needed
- Assisting with general site-based survey preparation and setup activities
- Supporting routine upkeep and calibration of UAV and survey equipment
What We’re Looking For
- Experience or understanding of UAV operations and/or surveying workflows (preferred)
- A background in engineering, geography, geomatics, or similar (degree desirable but not essential)
- Comfortable working outdoors on site and in varying conditions
- An interest in geospatial data, mapping, or construction technology
- Able to follow procedures while also working practically and independently at times
- A methodical approach with good attention to accuracy and detail
