We are currently seeking an experienced Trailer Technician to join a busy and growing workshop in Bedford. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance and repair of HGV trailers, ensuring all vehicles are maintained to the highest safety and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and inspections on a range of HGV trailers
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and pneumatic faults
  • Perform brake servicing and adjustments including drum and disc systems
  • Repair and maintain suspension systems including air suspension units
  • Conduct MOT preparation and pre-inspection checks
  • Undertake welding and fabrication repairs when required
  • Replace trailer components including axles, hubs, landing legs, lighting systems and air lines
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with DVSA safety and compliance standards
  • Complete accurate job cards and maintenance records
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Trailer Technician, HGV Technician or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
  • Strong knowledge of HGV trailer systems including brakes, suspension and electrics
  • Ability to diagnose and repair faults efficiently
  • Welding and fabrication skills desirable
  • Good understanding of workshop health and safety procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable Qualifications
  • NVQ / City & Guilds in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or Engineering
  • Previous experience working on commercial trailers
  • HGV licence (advantage but not essential)
