Then this might be the role you have been waiting for.

Elite Tutors Sussex is a high-quality tutoring and Alternative Provision consultancy built on one non-negotiable: achieving the best possible outcomes for every student. We collaborate only with exceptional people, and we are growing our leadership team. We’re looking for a Head of Alternative Provisions and Student Success to join us as a self-employed Consultant and proud brand ambassador, someone who can bridge the gap between schools, LAs, families, and our expert tutors, and who brings deep, lived knowledge of the SEND landscape.

Hours: 20 hours per week — 4 hours per day, 5 days a week

Location: Sussex-based, remote, with occasional in person meetings

About Us

Elite Tutors Sussex is a SENCO-led tutoring and education consultancy, founded and run by qualified teachers and SENCos. We work closely with families, schools, and local authorities, supporting students with SEND, SEMH, anxiety, specific learning differences and complex learning profiles. Our approach is professional, evidence-informed, and collaborative.

We are frequently recommended to families by:

  • Educational Psychologists
  • Specialist Dyslexia Assessors
  • Speech and Language Therapists
  • Occupational Therapists
  • EOTAS parents

These referrals reflect our reputation for:

  • High-quality specialist teaching
  • Robust safeguarding and SEND practice
  • Clear communication and relationships with professionals
  • Thoughtful, child-centred approaches

What you will be doing

This is a pivotal, relationship-led and senior leadership role. Day to day, you will:

  • Build and manage relationships with schools, Local Authorities, families, and tutors, from first enquiry through to ongoing partnership.
  • Lead academic oversight for up to 25 students: termly progress meetings, and attendance at EHCP Annual Reviews.
  • Oversee our half termly reporting process.
  • Interpret complex needs reading EHCPs, assessing student profiles, and matching young people with the right tutors.
  • Support and guide our tutoring team with ongoing advice, safeguarding oversight, and professional development.
  • Act as Safeguarding Lead for this branch, overseeing training and protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with our PSHCE Lead, office team, and Company Director.

We believe this role has real scope to grow, and we'll empower you to develop it as this area expands.

What We are Looking For

This is not a role for someone new to SEND. We need someone who knows this world inside out.

  • Proven SENCO experience — you have held the role, not just supported it.
  • Deep, firsthand knowledge of EHCPs and navigating the SEND system.
  • Exceptional communication skills — with parents, schools, and LAs alike.
  • Safeguarding experience (or strong, demonstrable willingness to lead on this).
  • Highly organised, proactive, and tech-comfortable (GDPR awareness; willingness to learn our CRM system).
  • Formal SENCO qualification (NPQ SENCO or equivalent) is desirable.

Please do not apply if you do not have SENCO experience. We need someone who can step confidently into this role from day one.

What We Offer

We invest in our team as much as our students:

  • Comprehensive onboarding and ongoing training, including access to a growing access resource hub.
  • Full tech and systems support — Tutor Cruncher, GDPR compliance, Google Drive Workspace.
  • A dedicated company workspace.
  • Regular leadership meetings, community connection, and direct guidance from our director.
  • A genuinely supportive, high-quality professional environment —SEND workshops, coffee mornings, summer socials, and even a book club.
  • Discounted Tutors’ Association membership.

What Our Tutors Say

Elite is a cut above the rest. From the start, it felt more like joining a community than just an agency. The team really understands the value of what we do as tutors. — Ms Marshall, SENCO

I have never felt more supported as a tutor. The sense of care, the quality of matching, and the community feel have made such a difference. — Chris, QTS & SEND Tutor (20+ years)
