The Opportunity

A growing Mechanical Building Services contractor is looking to recruit an Assistant Contract Performance Manager as part of its continued expansion.

This is a newly created position, offering the opportunity to play a key role in improving operational performance across a portfolio of mechanical engineering contracts.

Working closely with senior leadership, you'll support the delivery, performance and profitability of live projects while helping Contracts Managers achieve consistently high standards.

If you're currently working as a Senior Contracts Manager, Contracts Manager, Operations Manager, Mechanical Project Manager, Contract Delivery Manager or similar, and enjoy improving processes, developing teams and driving operational performance, this could be an excellent next step.

The Role

Reporting into the Contract Performance Manager, you'll oversee the day-to-day operational performance of the Contracts Management team, providing support, structure and accountability across multiple live projects.

Rather than directly managing projects yourself, you'll work alongside experienced Contracts Managers, ensuring workloads are balanced, operational challenges are resolved early and projects remain commercially successful.

You'll become a key point of contact between operational teams and senior management, helping improve communication, forecasting, reporting and overall business performance.

Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Contract Performance Manager

  • Support the performance and delivery of multiple Mechanical Building Services contracts.
  • Work closely with Contracts Managers to improve project delivery, planning and operational performance.
  • Monitor workload, forecasting, WIP, labour utilisation and commercial performance across live contracts.
  • Produce accurate operational reports and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
  • Build strong relationships with operational teams, engineers and clients, providing coaching and support where required.
  • Drive continuous improvement by implementing better processes and promoting best practice across the business.
  • Attend client meetings and support senior management in maintaining exceptional service delivery.
  • Deputise for the Contract Performance Manager when required.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Building Services professional who understands both operational delivery and commercial contract management.

You'll ideally have experience in one or more of the following roles

  • Assistant Contract Performance Manager
  • Senior Contracts Manager
  • Contracts Manager
  • Mechanical Contracts Manager
  • Operations Manager
  • Mechanical Project Manager
  • Building Services Manager
  • Contract Delivery Manager

You'll also have

  • At least five years' experience within Mechanical Building Services.
  • Experience managing multiple contracts or projects simultaneously.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of contract delivery.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to analyse operational performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • A full UK Driving Licence.
