Our client, an industry leader within their field, is seeking a Senior Controls & Instrumentation Engineer to take a key role in the design and delivery of control systems across a range of heat-network and energy projects in London. This position is ideal for a Senior Controls & Instrumentation Engineer who enjoys a mix of detailed design work, site engineering, and direct engagement with suppliers and project stakeholders.
As a Senior C&I Engineer, you’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure control systems are designed, installed, and commissioned to a high standard. You’ll take ownership of your projects, contribute to technical decisions, and support both office-based engineering and on-site delivery.
Senior C&I Engineer Responsibilities:- Acting as the lead Senior Controls & Instrumentation Engineer during the detailed design phase.
- Taking responsibility for C&I engineering on site during construction and commissioning.
- Designing control systems for energy centres and heat-network infrastructure.
- Working with suppliers throughout procurement, design development, installation, and commissioning.
- Reviewing technical submissions, drawings, and integration strategies.
- Supporting project managers with reporting, planning, and technical evaluation.
- Balancing office-based design work with regular site visits across London.
- Degree-level qualification (Level 8 / Honours Bachelor’s or equivalent) in engineering.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience as a C&I engineer—ideally already operating at Senior Controls & Instrumentation Engineer level.
- Confident engaging with clients, consultants, and suppliers.
- Strong understanding of BMS and PLC-based systems, with beneficial experience in Siemens or Trend platforms.
- Proficient with MS Office, especially Excel and Word.
- A flexible mindset, keen to take on varied technical challenges across full project lifecycles.
- Someone who works well in a multidisciplinary environment and naturally collaborates with others.
