We are seeking an experienced Head of Mechanical Projects to lead and manage one major mechanical services contract within the healthcare sector, specifically focusing on hospital maintenance and refurbishment projects. This is a senior-level position responsible for overseeing the delivery of complex mechanical installations while ensuring compliance with NHS and healthcare-specific regulations. Experience delivering healthcare contracts is an advantage; however, experience in managing Public Sector contracts is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of mechanical contracts for hospital and healthcare facility projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and to budget.
- Full financial responsibility for contracts including P&L, work quotations, budgeting etc.
- Liaise with NHS Trusts, hospital estates teams, consultants, and contractors to ensure all work meets stringent healthcare standards.
- Oversee planning, procurement, and resource allocation across multiple hospital projects.
- Monitor project/contract progress and proactively manage risk, changes, and potential delays.
- Lead, mentor, and support project engineers, site managers, and subcontractors on healthcare-specific technical and procedural standards.
- Compile and manage project documentation including method statements, risk assessments, O&M manuals, and commissioning reports.
- Conduct regular site visits to hospital projects to ensure delivery quality and client satisfaction.
- Participate in tendering and pre-construction planning for upcoming hospital projects.
Key Specifications:
- Minimum 5 years in a contracts/project management role, working way up through mechanical career path.
- Experience of working with steam & high & medium pressure systems is essential.
- Proven track history delivery public sector contracts.
- P&L experience.
