Job Description
Civil Structural Engineer – Worthing, West Sussex
Salary: £40,000 – £60,000 (DOE) + Bonuses + Benefits
A well-established structural engineering firm in Worthing, West Sussex, is looking for an experienced Structural Engineer (4+ years) to join their busy and growing team. This role offers the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of projects, from initial client consultations to design, analysis, and project delivery. The successful candidate will take ownership of their work, contributing to structural solutions while managing projects independently in a supportive and collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will have full chartership or near receiving chartership status.
The Structural Engineer will be responsible for:
• Structural Design & Calculations – Preparing detailed structural designs, calculations, and drawings for steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structures.
• Site Inspections & Reporting – Conducting assessments, drafting reports, and recommending appropriate remedial solutions.
• Client & Contractor Interaction – Engaging directly with clients, contractors, suppliers, and consultants to ensure seamless project execution.
• Project Coordination – Managing quotes, invoices, and workload with minimal supervision.
• Regulatory Compliance – Ensuring all designs adhere to British Standards and Building Regulations.
• Technical Oversight – Reviewing calculations and providing on-site supervision when required.
Essential Skills & Experience:
• A minimum of 4 years' experience in structural engineering and design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• The ability to carry out physical site work, including climbing ladders and accessing loft spaces.
• Thorough knowledge of British Standards and Building Regulations.
• A relevant engineering degree.
Desirable Skills:
• Chartered or near Chartered status.
• Experience in Revit and Contract Administration.
• Knowledge of Party Wall Surveying.
