Salary: £14.00–£15.50 per hour, depending on experience

Home: Brand-new 3-bed EBD children's home

We are recruiting an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker or Team Leader for a brand-new three-bed children's home in Milton Keynes. The home will support children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties and already has an excellent Registered Manager in post. This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape the culture of a new service and build a safe, positive and nurturing environment from the outset.

The role as a Senior Residential Support Worker includes:

  • Leading and supporting the staff team during shifts
  • Providing high-quality, child-centred care
  • Building meaningful and consistent relationships with the children
  • Acting as a positive role model for both children and colleagues
  • Supporting the Registered Manager with the smooth running of the home
  • Allocating tasks and providing guidance to less-experienced team members
  • Completing and overseeing records, handovers and incident reports
  • Ensuring care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures are followed
  • Supporting children with education, activities, appointments and independence skills
  • Responding confidently and calmly to challenging behaviour
  • Contributing to team meetings, supervisions and service development

What we're looking for:

  • Experience working within a children's residential care setting
  • Previous senior or shift-leading experience
  • A Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare, or a commitment to completing it
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed care
  • The confidence to lead shifts and make appropriate decisions
  • A calm, resilient and compassionate approach
  • Strong communication and record-keeping skills
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and sleep-ins
