This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role, working across a range of manufacturing sites with the support of an experienced technical team.
The Role
As a Mechanical Service Engineer, you’ll be responsible for servicing, maintaining, installing and repairing a variety of precision engineering machinery at customer sites throughout the region. Your duties will include:
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance to minimise machine downtime.
- Responding to customer breakdowns and providing effective solutions.
- Rebuilding and replacing mechanical components including bearings, spindles and drive systems.
- Installing and commissioning new equipment.
- Ensuring machinery is correctly aligned, calibrated and operating to specification.
- Producing clear service reports following each customer visit.
- Providing customers with advice on the safe operation and routine maintenance of equipment.
- Working closely with the internal technical team to identify replacement parts and resolve technical issues.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- A recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification.
- Previous experience servicing industrial machinery or machine tools.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to read engineering drawings and technical diagrams.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- A full UK driving licence.
Experience with CNC machinery or basic electrical fault finding would be advantageous but is not essential.
