Ashdown Park has a new opportunity for an Accounts Apprentice to join their small team. Based in the stunning Ashdown Forest, you will have the opportunity to earn a wage, develop real work experience and study for qualifications, supported by an employer that is an accredited Investor In People.
When you join us, you will be working in our Accounts Office as an Accounts Apprentice whilst studying towards your AAT qualifications. We aim to complement the AAT program by providing on-the-job knowledge and mentorship from an experienced accounts team. You can expect regular quarterly review meetings with your Line Manager and College Tutor. Due to the rural location of the hotel, you will need your own transport.
Your duties will include:
- Recording of hotels daily takings
- Income audit/reporting on daily revenues
- Purchase ledger duties - Ensure all invoices/Credit Notes are processed/authorised and submitted on time in line with company standards
- Ensuring all invoices have been received/checked against supplier statements
- Recording of allowances/discounts/promotions and gift voucher reconciliations
- Monitor hotel usage of utilities/meter readings
- Food invoice audit/food costing control
- Assisting with departmental stock takes
This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday; however, during term times, one of your working days will be spent at College. During college holidays, you are expected at work five days a week.
What we need from you:
- Good command of the English language, both written and verbal
- Keen to learn and adaptable to changing demands
- You must also take ownership of your own learning and development
- Good attention to detail
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
- Confidence with numbers
- Grade 9 to 4 in GCSE Maths and English
