We are seeking an engaging, resilient, and passionate Functional Skills Teacher to deliver Maths and English from Entry Level to Level 2 in a supportive, learner-centred environment.

This rewarding role involves working with young people who have faced barriers to education, helping them gain the skills, confidence, and qualifications needed to progress into employment, apprenticeships, or further education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging Functional Skills Maths and English lessons (Entry Level to Level 2).
  • Plan and adapt learning to meet individual learner needs and abilities.
  • Assess progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Build positive relationships that promote engagement, confidence, and achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals to support learner outcomes.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
  • Promote positive behaviour through effective classroom management.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance, and accurate learner records.

About You

  • A recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Functional Skills or GCSE Maths and/or English.
  • The ability to differentiate learning for a range of needs, including SEMH and additional learning needs.
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A flexible, patient, and learner-focused approach with a genuine commitment to inclusive education
