Elite Consultancy Network is exclusively retained to recruit an experienced Mobile Plant Fitter for a well‑established and growing civil engineering and highways contractor operating across the North West. This is a hands‑on, mobile role supporting a large and modern fleet of heavy plant and construction machinery, playing a vital part in keeping projects moving safely, efficiently, and compliantly.
The Role: As a Mobile Plant Fitter, you will provide field‑based and workshop support across the North West, maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy plant. You’ll work closely with site teams and fellow engineers to minimise downtime and ensure machinery is fully operational. This role suits a practical, self‑sufficient engineer who is comfortable with regional travel, early starts, and on‑call work.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repairs (Field‑Based & Workshop)
- Service, repair, and maintain heavy plant machinery including:
- Excavators
- Rollers
- Pavers
- Dump trucks
- Wheel loaders
- Mobile Support & Call‑Out
- Respond to breakdowns across the North West
- Travel independently to sites using a company‑provided service vehicle
- Participate in an on‑call rota, including nights and weekends
- Workshop Support
- Work alongside other plant and HGV fitters
- Assist with maintenance of support equipment, tools, and attachments
What We’re Looking For
- Level 3 Plant Engineering qualification or equivalent experience
- Strong experience working with heavy plant machinery
- Confident diagnosing hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical faults
- Previous mobile fitter experience advantageous but not essential
- Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work early starts, overtime, and on‑call shifts
- Full UK driving licence
