About the Role
This is a home-based Field Service Engineer position, covering mainly the South East / East Anglia / South of the UK, with a link into the Duxford depot for parts, support and occasional depot-based activity. The role will focus predominantly on the service, repair and diagnostics of Dynapac road construction equipment, with a particular emphasis on pavers, as well as compactors, asphalt equipment and associated road machinery. You will be working as part of a small, specialist team, so the business is looking for someone technically strong, reliable, customer-facing and comfortable working independently in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain, diagnose and repair road construction equipment in the field.
- Work predominantly on Dynapac road machinery, including pavers, compactors and material feeders.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, driveline and transmission faults.
- Use laptop / tablet-based diagnostic systems and complete electronic reports in real time.
- Liaise professionally with customers, internal teams and service management.
- Identify additional work or aftermarket opportunities where appropriate.
- Order and manage parts required for repairs and ensure work is completed efficiently.
- Work in line with quotations, time guides and customer expectations.
- Attend product and systems training as required.
- Support wider customers across the South and occasionally further afield when needed.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Field Service Engineer, Mobile Plant Engineer, Plant Fitter, HGV Engineer, Agricultural Engineer or similar.
- Strong background working on heavy plant, construction equipment, road machinery, HGVs or agricultural machinery.
- Good technical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrics, transmissions and driveline systems.
- Confident with diagnostics, fault finding and troubleshooting.
- Ideally experienced with road construction equipment, particularly pavers.
- Experience with Dynapac, BOMAG, Wirtgen, Vögele, Hamm, Volvo, JCB, CAT, Komatsu or similar manufacturers would be highly relevant.
- Formal engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent.
