Essex / East Anglia (field-based)
Our client is a well-established plant business supplying heavy line equipment, backed by strong internal support and training. They’re expanding their footprint across Essex and East Anglia and are now looking to bring in an Area Sales Manager to build out this territory.
This is a brand-new position and a genuine “blank canvas” opportunity. The focus is heavily business development led to start with – canvassing, site visits, opening doors and building relationships across the patch.
You’ll be responsible for selling heavy line equipment including 14T+ excavators and a full range of wheel loaders (new plant), managing the full sales process and developing a healthy pipeline within the territory. Salesforce is used for opportunity tracking, supported by admin/internal teams and product training when required.
- Identify opportunities with end users, owner operators, plant hire businesses and fleet buyers.
- Manage the full sales cycle: prospecting, site visits, demonstrations, quotations, negotiation and close.
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline and accurate forecasting via Salesforce (opportunity tracking).
- Provide regular updates on territory activity, pipeline and wins/losses to the Sales Manager.
Proven field sales background with a strong new business / territory development track record. Experience selling into construction plant, machinery, heavy equipment, plant hire or closely related markets.
A self-starter / hunter mentality – comfortable building a patch from scratch without being micromanaged. Confident dealing with site-based decision makers and managing longer sales cycles. Organised, commercial and able to manage pipeline effectively.
Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK. Brand new territory with genuine scope to build something and make it your own. Strong internal support and admin function to support the sales process. Sales training and product training available (including manufacturer/HQ support). A long-term opportunity within a stable, growing business.
Company car/allowance, commission and additional benefits (details shared on request).
If you’re a field sales professional from plant, hire or heavy equipment and you enjoy new business/patch-building roles, we’d like to hear from you.
