A Field Service Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of heavy construction equipment, ensuring machines operate safely and efficiently. You’ll play a key role in minimising downtime and delivering exceptional aftersales support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults on heavy equipment (40 tonne+)
- Carry out on-site repairs, servicing, and preventative maintenance
- Work on hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and electrical components
- Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve issues efficiently
- Complete detailed service reports and documentation
- Liaise with internal teams and keep customers informed throughout
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety standards
- Maintain a clean, organised company van and high working standards
About You:
- Proven experience in a field service role within heavy plant, construction, or similar equipment
- OEM or main dealer background preferred
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines, and diagnostics
- Experience working on large mobile equipment (40 tonne+)
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Confident using IT systems for reporting and diagnostics
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Full UK driving licence
