Parts Counter Assistant – North London

Full-Time On-site
Elite Consultancy Network Limited.

Package: £38,149.27 basic salary + Pension + Private Healthcare + Leisure Benefits

Location: North London – Depot-Based

Industry: Construction Machinery / Plant Equipment / Aftermarket Parts

The Business

An established construction machinery business is looking to appoint a Parts Counter Assistant to its busy North London depot. The business supplies and supports machinery used across the construction sector, and its parts operation is central to keeping customers' equipment working.

The Role

This is a varied, hands‑on parts position in a small, self‑sufficient depot team. You'll deal mainly with trade customers and their fitters, many of whom need replacement parts urgently when machinery breaks down.

Alongside identifying and supplying parts, you'll be involved in orders, deliveries, inventory and the general running of the depot. No two days are quite the same.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle parts enquiries by telephone, email and at the counter, providing an accurate and helpful service.
  • Identify spare parts, confirm availability and pricing, and process customer orders.
  • Support customers and service teams when machinery is awaiting repair or maintenance.
  • Receive and unload deliveries, put stock away and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Pick, pack and prepare parts for collection or dispatch; manage purchase orders and invoices.
  • Work closely with colleagues to keep the depot organised, safe and running smoothly.

About You

We're looking for someone with experience in a parts department who enjoys a busy, practical environment and takes ownership of their work. Direct construction machinery experience would be useful, but it isn't essential; the parts processes and customer service skills matter more.

Suitable backgrounds could include:

  • Automotive or motor factor parts advisers.
  • Commercial vehicle, HGV or bus parts staff.
  • Agricultural, plant, forklift or industrial equipment parts advisers.

You should be organised, comfortable juggling competing enquiries, confident using computer-based parts/stock systems and able to deal calmly with demanding customers.

A forklift licence is helpful but training is provided. A driving licence is not required.

What's on Offer

  • 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday; standard hours 8:00am–5:30pm.
  • Company pension, private healthcare and contributions towards leisure memberships (subject to scheme eligibility).
  • Training on the machinery, internal systems and forklift equipment where required.
  • A varied, practical role within a close-knit parts team.
