At Elite Car Body, we've built our reputation over nearly 30 years by doing things the right way. We're a proudly independent, family-run accident repair centre where quality comes before quantity, colleagues look out for one another, and everyone takes pride in the vehicles that leave our workshop. Many of our team have been with us for years, bringing over 140 years of combined experience to the business. As our workload continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Vehicle Stripper / Fitter (MET Technician) who enjoys being part of a close-knit team and takes genuine pride in producing work to the highest standards.
If you're looking to move away from the pressures of a large corporate repair group and join a respected local business where your skills are recognised and valued, we'd love to hear from you.
The role
Working in our BSI Kitemark (BS10125) approved bodyshop, you'll be responsible for stripping damaged vehicles ready for repair before accurately refitting all mechanical, electrical and trim components to manufacturer standards. You'll work alongside an experienced, supportive team of painters, panel technicians and repair specialists who all share the same goal which is returning every vehicle to its owner in first-class condition.
What you'll be doing
- Removing and refitting mechanical, electrical and trim (MET) components
- Stripping vehicles ready for repair work
- Refitting panels, lights, bumpers, interiors and mechanical components
- Identifying damaged parts requiring replacement
- Ensuring all work meets manufacturer specifications and BSI standards
- Carrying out final quality checks before vehicles progress through the repair process
- Working efficiently without compromising on quality
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
About you
We're looking for someone who already has experience within an accident repair or bodyshop environment and enjoys working as part of a professional team. You'll ideally have:
- Proven experience as a Vehicle Stripper/Fitter or MET Technician
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and fault-finding skills
- Pride in producing high-quality workmanship
- A positive attitude and willingness to support colleagues
- Strong attention to detail
- Reliability and a good work ethic
- A full UK driving licence (preferred)
ATA or NVQ qualifications are welcomed but are not essential. Your experience, attitude and quality of work are what matter most.
Why join Elite Car Body?
We're large enough to offer a busy, modern workshop with a consistent flow of work, but small enough that everyone knows each other and works together. When you join us, you'll benefit from:
- Competitive salary of £30,000–£40,000, depending on experience
- Permanent, secure employment with a respected independent local business
- A friendly, supportive and highly experienced workshop team
- Modern equipment and repair facilities
- Consistent insurance and private repair work
- Ongoing investment in training and development
- Plenty of overtime opportunities
- 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays and Christmas shutdown
- A workplace where quality, teamwork and pride in your work are genuinely appreciated
Working hours are 8.15am–5.15pm, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week). Join a team where your experience matters. If you're an experienced MET Technician looking for a workshop where you'll be respected, supported and part of a great team, we'd love to hear from you. Please apply. Come and join a local business that values craftsmanship, teamwork and long-term relationships with both our customers and our people. Successful applicants will be invited to complete a paid trial before any formal offer of employment is made.
