We have a great opportunity for a Production Leader to join our site at Bishop Auckland. You will work closely with the Production Manager and other internal teams to drive continuous improvement across the site. Your focus will be on maximising the efficiency of production operations, developing and engaging team members and fostering a culture of lean thinking and operational excellence.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday - 14:00 - 22:00 or Sunday to Thursday- 22:00 - 06:00
Your Mission at Elis:
- Uphold the company’s vision, values, and policies at all times.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety regulations and promote team wellbeing.
- Oversee delivery performance—timeliness, quantity, cost, and quality.
- Structure and manage staffing levels based on forecasted volumes and budget.
- Communicate targets and results clearly; collaborate with support functions.
- Achieve and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Lead and support the production team to maintain operational excellence.
- Motivate, coach, and encourage teamwork across all levels.
- Report on performance metrics including productivity, delivery, and consumption.
- Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, quality, and value.
- Maintain stock levels of chemicals and consumables.
- Participate in forecasting and conduct regular reviews.
- Escalate production issues that may impact delivery schedules.
- Manage shift staffing to meet operational needs.
- Lead employee management including absence, performance, and grievances.
- Implement first-level maintenance in line with company standards.

- Proven leadership experience in a production or operational environment—ideally within textiles, healthcare, or logistics.
- Strong understanding of continuous improvement methodologies, such as LEAN or Six Sigma.
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills, with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
- IOSH-qualified, with strong literacy and numeracy skills, and a keen eye for detail, hygiene, and safety standards.
- Adaptable and proactive, able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience), with a solid background in managing performance, absence, and operational KPIs.
