ELIS, a leader in circular services, is looking for a Shift Engineer to support and advance its maintenance operations. This full‑time, permanent role requires a 4‑on/4‑off shift pattern (12‑hour shifts: 05:00–17:00 & 17:00–05:00) and direct reporting to the on‑site Engineering Manager.
About the role
- Ensure all activities comply with the Site Health and Safety instructions, the SSG Health and Safety manual, and relevant engineering standards.
- Complete all Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities on time, providing feedback to improve the system.
- Work closely with the Engineer on the opposite shift to hand over ongoing activities and share information.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of plant, machinery and maintenance processes.
- Identify long‑running problems and propose suitable solutions in collaboration with Engineering colleagues.
- Perform equipment repairs safely and promptly, keeping Production informed of progress.
- Carry out remedial engineering works as instructed by the Engineering Manager.
- Report incidents, accidents and near misses in line with Health and Safety Policies.
- Adhere to safe systems of work and best practice procedures.
- Maintain excellent communication between Production staff and co‑workers.
What will make you stand out?
- Recognised qualification relevant to the role (e.g., Mechanical or Electrical C&G).
- Skills in both Electrical and Mechanical trades; apprenticeship with indentures preferred.
- Experience with Electrical Installation Maintenance.
- Mechanical Fabrication/Maintenance skills.
- Electronic fault‑finding to component level.
- Knowledge of additional engineering disciplines (pneumatics, hydraulics, steam systems).
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
