We have a new vacancy for a Lead Engineer at our Chatham site! The Lead Engineer will support the Engineering Manager in leading the engineering team and acting as deputy in the achievement of functional objectives that support the site business plan. The successful candidate will work closely with the production team to continuously improve site overall equipment effectiveness, develop, and lead all engineering functions as agreed with the Engineering Manager.
Your Mission at Elis
- Support the Engineering Manager/team to ensure compliance with regulations for fire and alarm systems, PAT, pressure valves, etc., analysing the results and ensuring corrective action is implemented to continuously improve the working environment.
- Support the engineering team by working on shift, with hands‐on experience to mentor the team and ensure that PPMs, SSOWs and working procedures are followed.
- Support the Engineering Manager with the planning, organising and coordinating resources to meet production requirements of ongoing maintenance, machine replacement and unplanned issues.
- Support the Engineering Manager to plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment as per production requirements.
- Support the Engineering Manager to deliver training to engineers and operators on new machinery, using the machinery documentation and SSOWs.
- Oversee the engineering team during any period of the Engineering Manager's absence; monitor, manage and control all activities in accordance with the agreed functional budgets, investigating and resolving any variances.
- Ensure the PPM schedule is adhered to and highlight issues to the Engineering Manager and General Manager.

- Education to degree level or NVQ Level 5 in a relevant engineering field.
