Are you an experienced Engineer looking for a hands‑on role within a fast‑paced, forward‑thinking organisation? Elis, a leader in textile, hygiene and facility services, is looking for a skilled Engineer to join our team and help keep our site performing at its best.
As an Engineer, you’ll play a key role in maintaining, improving and repairing our machinery and infrastructure. Working closely with the Senior Engineer/Lead Engineer/Engineering Manager, you’ll ensure equipment reliability, support continuous improvement, and contribute to the smooth running of our operations.
The role is based in our Coventry site. The shift pattern is mornings, afternoons and nights.
Your Mission at Elis
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and ensure all activities are completed on time.
- Respond to breakdowns and complete repairs safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying issues, suggesting solutions, and improving equipment reliability and performance.
- Work collaboratively with engineers across shifts, ensuring thorough handovers and strong communication.
- Assist with new installations, equipment upgrades and site improvement projects.
- Follow all QHSE procedures, promoting a strong safety culture and maintaining safe systems of work.
- Ensure contractors work safely on site and comply with site rules and procedures.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and support good engineering practices across the site.
What will make you stand out?
Essential Skills & Experience We’re Looking For
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or process environment (industrial laundry desirable).
- Electrical Installation – 18th Edition.
- Strong skills in mechanical and electrical maintenance.
- Experience with fault finding (including electronic component level).
- High attention to detail and strong problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively at all levels.
- Flexible, self‑motivated and able to respond quickly to operational needs.
- Willingness to work unsocial hours when required, including nights.
Education/Qualifications
- Recognised engineering qualification (e.g., Mechanical/Electrical C&G).
- Time‑served apprenticeship highly desirable.
- Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics and steam systems preferred.
- Safety qualifications beneficial.
