About a career with Elis. Are you an experienced engineering professional ready to step into a leadership role? We are looking for a proactive and influential Lead Engineer to join our Leicester site, supporting the Engineering Manager and leading the engineering team to deliver exceptional operational performance.
As Lead Engineer, you will act as the Engineering Manager's deputy, supporting the leadership, development and coordination of the site's engineering function. You will work closely with Production to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness, deliver safe and efficient engineering operations and lead continuous improvement across the site.
Your Mission at Elis
- Leadership & Team Support
- Lead and support the engineering team, providing hands-on technical guidance and mentoring.
- Deputise for the Engineering Manager, including managing activities and budgets in their absence.
- Ensure PPM schedules, corrective works, SSOWs and engineering procedures are consistently followed.
- Support training delivery for engineers and operators on new equipment.
- Compliance, Safety & Standards
- Ensure adherence to company Vision, Values and QHSE policies at all times.
- Support in ensuring compliance with risk assessments, COSHH, RIDDOR and all regulatory requirements.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure appropriate safety training is in place and completed.
- Contribute to maintaining relevant site accreditations (e.g. ISO/EN14065).
- Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Work collaboratively with Production to improve equipment performance and OEE.
- Lead site improvements around sustainability and WECO reduction.
- Support installation, testing, operation and maintenance of all facilities and equipment.
- Source parts and machinery through approved suppliers.

Education & Experience
- Essential:
- Proven experience in industrial maintenance or production.
- Previous supervisory or management experience.
- Operational maintenance experience.
- Degree/HND/HNC/NVQ Level 3/City & Guilds in a relevant engineering discipline or time-served apprenticeship (electrical/mechanical/steam).
- Experience implementing continuous improvement programmes.
- Experience in energy and sustainability management.
- Desirable:
- NEBOSH/IOSH/QHSE qualifications.
- Bi-lingual capability.
