We have a great opportunity to join our Reading site as a Production Manager. This role will be responsible for leading, managing and continually developing the production teams in the achievement of functional objectives that support the Site and Company Business Plan. Work closely with the engineering, service and logistics teams to continuously improve site overall effectiveness ensuring utilisation of production facilities, people development and a lean culture.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and develop the production teams to achieve functional objectives that support the Site and Company Business Plan.
- Collaborate with engineering, service and logistics teams to improve site overall effectiveness, optimise production facilities, develop people and promote a lean culture.
- Run continuous improvement discussions/forums and quality circles to investigate and analyse all production-related issues and drive ongoing continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and requirements; analyse results and implement corrective actions to continuously improve the working environment.
- Generate and analyse reports/KPIs, make recommendations on trends, improvements and corrective actions to achieve operational excellence.
- Liaise with other departments to resolve issues quickly.
- Liaise with customers to ensure service commitments are realised and keep service teams updated on issues to agree corrective actions as required.
- Contribute to reducing environmental impact (e.g., energy usage).
- Plan, organise and coordinate resources to meet production requirements and ensure OTIF delivery and compliance with client contracts.
- Develop, propose and manage functional budgets; monitor, manage and control activities in line with the agreed budget; investigate and resolve variances.
- Work with the GM to develop strategic plans for operational activity and capital requests.
- Ensure productivity, cost effectiveness, quality and service in the production process across all lines.
Leadership and Management
- Lead, manage, control and develop all employees (including absence, performance management, grievances and Health and Safety Training) using SMART objectives during regular review and feedback meetings.
- Demonstrate good written and verbal skills; listen to and influence peer group and department team members to build and lead effective working teams.
- Maintain good attention to detail and the ability to analyse data and interpret information to continuously improve the department and/or team.
- Organise self and others to ensure tasks are carried out in a timely manner.
- IT skills (email, MS Office including Project and PowerPoint).
- Proactive, customer-focused approach to service delivery.
