Role Description - We seek a highly skilled Senior Electrical Systems Engineer to support the design, development, and supplier management of innovative power solutions, including grid-independent and grid-connected energy systems. This role will be pivotal in delivering state-of-the-art electrical infrastructure, integrating renewables, energy storage, and microgrid technologies, and driving next-generation power systems. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge power and energy infrastructure projects, contributing to the future of sustainable energy systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Power Systems Design & Analysis
- Develop electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs), system architectures, and detailed design documentation.
- Conduct power flow, fault analysis, and protection coordination studies using ETAP, DIgSILENT, or similar tools.
- Design HV (up to 11kV) and LV power distribution systems, including breaker discrimination studies, interlocking, and selectivity analysis.
- Lead technical procurement specifications for electrical systems, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers (e.g., Aggreko, Generac, CAT, Bergen Engines, Wartsila, MAN, MTU) to evaluate, procure, and integrate power system components.
- Supervise subcontractors during system implementation, testing, and commissioning.
- Design grid-independent and grid-connected power solutions, integrating renewables, battery storage, and distributed generation.
- Develop resilient power architectures that optimize system efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
- Support the development of hybrid and flexible energy systems, including microgrid controls and energy management strategies.
- Oversee on-site commissioning, ensuring seamless integration of electrical and control systems.
- Conduct system testing and troubleshooting, ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory standards.
- Work closely with controls and automation teams to optimize power management strategies.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Experience: 10+ years in Power Systems Engineering, Electrical Project Delivery, or Technical Sales Support at a major generator hire or power systems company (e.g., Aggreko, Wartsila, Generac, CAT, MAN, MTU, Bergen Engines).
- Technical Skills: Strong background in HV/LV distribution design, breaker coordination, fault analysis, and microgrid system development.
- Software Expertise: Proficiency in ETAP, DIgSILENT, PSCAD, or similar power system analysis tools.
- Project Delivery: Hands-on experience in procurement, supplier management, and electrical commissioning.
- Renewable Energy & Storage: Experience integrating solar, battery storage, and hybrid power systems is highly desirable.
- Certifications (Preferred): CEng, IET Membership, or similar professional qualifications.
