The Head of Engineering will provide effective, visible and inspirational leadership as a member of the Senior Leadership Group and be accountable for the Engineering capability of the business. They will create, lead and execute the Eliquo Hydrok Engineering strategy that enables sustainable business growth. Be a champion of health, safety and continuous improvement across the business. Ensuring that all outputs from Engineering meet the specified HSEQ requirements, are on time and at the agreed cost. They will ensure the effective governance, planning, resourcing and quality of all Engineering activities while inspiring and developing a high performing team within Engineering.
What you’ll be doing:
- Accountable for and provide leadership and management of all aspects of Engineering, which primarily includes the capabilities for Process, Mechanical, EC&I and Technical Support.
- Ensure all company and customer HSE policies and procedures are followed and embraced to ensure a safe working environment.
- Accountable for ensuring all Engineering processes and practices are in accordance with relevant standards required by our ISO standard accreditations (including but not limited to ISO9001, 14001, 45001 and BS EN 1090) and industry requirements.
- Accountable for the effectiveness of the Engineering Team in line with the agreed targets for COPQ (cost of poor quality) and productivity.
- To ensure a strong One Team focus and excellent communication is present when the Engineering Team work together with colleagues from around the business.
- Lead the development and execution of the business strategy for Engineering.
- Providing the Engineering approval and sign off for new bids, contracts, technical documentation and other relevant processes and documents.
- This includes involvement in bid/no-bid decision making and post project reviews.
- Develop a high performing Engineering Team including but not limited to the professional development of team members and performance management.
- Ensure the organisation is sufficiently skilled to meet future Engineering demands through the ongoing training and development of colleagues throughout the organisation.
Essential requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering subject for the role along with relevant professional qualifications for the role.
- Previous experience leading an engineering function for a design and manufacturing business.
- Extensive experience delivering engineering outputs and support to high standards of safety and quality.
- Extensive experience leading teams including coaching, developing and recruiting.
- Experience working within a regulated environment.
- Fluent in English.
Desirable requirements:
- Master’s degree in relevant engineering, manufacturing or management subject for the role.
- Previous experience working for an OEM of products and services.
- Previous experience of similar products to those supplied by Eliquo Hydrok.
- Previous experience of engineering design for products that are welded and assembled.
- Previous experience working in or supplying to the municipal water sector in the UK&I.
- A good understanding of the regulations, standards and requirements of the municipal water sector in the UK&I.
Additional Information:
- The role holder must be capable of working effectively in a variety of locations.
- We are searching for candidates based in the Midlands or South West to be close to our offices in Wolverhampton or Indian Queens.
- Regular time will be spent at our HQ in Indian Queens, Cornwall (approximately 50% of your time).
- Expect to travel across the UK and Ireland for meetings with customers, suppliers, colleagues and third parties as required.
- Site visits to water treatment works and other similar locations will also be required.
- Occasional international travel may also be required.
- This is a hybrid role, and we have office and meeting space available in Indian Queens, Wolverhampton and Wombwell for use as and when needed.
