Eliot is seeking a dedicated Respite Peer Specialist to join our Respite Services team in providing short term restorative support to adults with serious and persistent mental illnesses. Eliot’s Respite program assists clients with obtaining and maintaining community living. As a Respite Peer Specialist, you will be responsible for providing guidance and individualized support to consumers in the recovery process. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on mental health recovery with an interpersonal skill set that allows you to develop lasting relationships with both the people we serve and with Respite Team Members.
Responsibilities
- Assist consumers with being able to identify personal methods of recovery from mental illness and to develop self management plans to address their experiences.
- Participate in the development of Individualized Action Plans (IAPs) and assist consumers with developing a self-management plan.
- Assist consumers in being fully integrated in their communities by supporting them in the use of community resources, encouraging them in establishing memberships within their communities, and reducing stigma within the community through education.
- Provide side by side interventions to consumers that focus on problem solving, skills training, modeling behavior, optimism and encouragement.
- Assist consumers with working towards achieving goals and developing skills in order to help consumers be able to move into a more independent setting.
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED equivalent
- Valid Driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
- Must be receiving mental health services or have received services in the past and have self-knowledge to manage their mental illness with an established recovery process
Schedule
- Tuesday-Friday 11am-4pm (20 hours)
Hourly Rate
$20 – $20 USD
