What You'll Do

Working within a friendly and supportive higher education environment, you'll play a key role in supporting staff and students with a wide range of technologies. From IT support and Microsoft cloud solutions to learning platforms, networking, and cutting‑edge audiovisual systems, you'll gain hands‑on experience across multiple areas of technology.

You'll work alongside experienced professionals who will help you develop valuable technical and problem‑solving skills while giving you real responsibility from day one. As your knowledge grows, you'll have opportunities to support online learning systems, student information platforms, livestreaming technology, and digital transformation projects across the organisation. This role offers a unique breadth of experience that you won't find in many apprenticeship programmes, providing a strong foundation for a long‑term and rewarding career in IT, digital support, cloud technologies, or systems administration. Duties Include but are not limited to:

  • Work towards your Digital Support Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship qualification
  • Learn about the internal help desk ticketing system and resolving user support issues
  • Support the A/V systems in lecture rooms and the lecture theatre
  • Support the use of the Mac‑based Video Podcast Studio
  • Develop and enhance skills in all Microsoft 365 Applications, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams and Sharepoint services
  • Learn Cognito forms development to support business processes
  • Learn Moodle LMS from an administrative perspective
  • Production of meaningful documentation – contributing to organisational knowledge
  • Learn to analyse systems and processes and devise, develop, test and implement the changes to improve process resilience
  • Exposure to the use of AI tools to modify CSS and HTML code to speed up look and feel changes in online systems

Training Outcome

Opportunity to progress to Higher or Degree level Apprenticeship for the right individual on successful completion of the level 3 apprenticeship.
