Mechanical Design Engineer – Exciting Opportunity!
Salary: circa £35,000 (range £30,000–£40,000)
Location: Hook, Hampshire
Working Pattern: 4 days office-based, 1 day from home
Experience: 1–3 years (placement or industry)
Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
The Opportunity:
We’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who’s ready to take the next step in their career. This role offers the chance to be hands-on with product design, prototyping, testing, and technical documentation, supporting a diverse range of products across electrical components, cables, and CCTV systems. It’s a fantastic opportunity to gain end-to-end engineering experience, from CAD design through to collaborating with international manufacturing teams — while making a real impact on the products our customers rely on.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and prototype mechanical components (including medical devices) using SolidWorks.
- Collaborate with UK & Asia manufacturing teams to ensure smooth, production-ready designs.
- Support compliance with ISO standards (ISO 9001 & ISO 13485).
- Create technical documentation (datasheets, manuals, installation guides).
- Contribute to optimising design processes for quality, speed, and cost efficiency.
- Work closely with Quality, Sales, Operations, and Business Development teams.
What We’re Looking For:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related).
- 1–3 years’ experience in mechanical engineering or product design.
- Confident CAD skills (SolidWorks).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communicator, proactive and collaborative.
- Eligible to work in the UK (no restrictions).
- Full UK driving licence.
Bonus Points For:
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes (injection moulding, electronics assembly, 3D printing, cleanroom manufacturing).
- Extra training/certification in CAD or Design for Manufacture.
