Role Overview
This is a permanent, leadership-tier position based in London for a Mechanical Engineer with a proven track record in the mission-critical sector. As a Technical Director, you will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the London-based engineering group, driving technical excellence and thought leadership across high-scale data centre developments in the UK and EMEA. This role balances high-level strategic business development with hands-on technical ownership of complex cooling and infrastructure design.
About You
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in mechanical building services design, with at least 3 years specifically within the Data Centre sector.
- Education: Honours Degree (BSc/BEng) in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering. Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with CIBSE, IMechE, or equivalent is required.
- Technical Authority: Proven track record of leading and delivering large-scale data centre projects (Hyperscale or Co-location) from concept through to construction.
- Standards: Deep expertise in CIBSE, ASHRAE (specifically Technical Committee 9.9), BS, and EN standards.
- Leadership: Demonstrable experience in managing multidisciplinary teams, mentoring senior engineers, and driving QA/QC standards.
- Commercial Acumen: Ability to manage project finances, including fee proposals, profit diagnosis, and resource allocation.
- Right to Work: Must have the full right to work in the UK and be based in or commutable to London.
