This is a key leadership position for an experienced design professional to head major data centre projects across the EMEA region. The Senior Electrical Design Engineer drives the entire project lifecycle, from initial concept to final client handover. This role requires a highly autonomous, technically deep expert capable of managing complex deliverables and leading multi‐disciplinary teams.
Core Responsibilities
- Project Leadership & Delivery: Own and manage project delivery from the concept stage through to final client handover, ensuring all deadlines and client expectations are met.
- Technical Authority: Provide specialist design and specification for all primary systems. Conduct continuous design and installation quality checks and control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Client & Stakeholder Management: Serve as the principal point of contact, liaising directly with clients, architects, and project managers. Develop project scope collaboratively with the design team and the client.
- Team Management & Mentoring: Direct and coordinate a support team, including junior engineers, technical draftspersons, and administrative staff, to meet project objectives. Actively mentor support staff to ensure their professional development.
- Tender Management: Produce comprehensive tender packages, including full reports, analysis, and recommendations.
- Quality Assurance: Uphold and enforce internal design standards, ensuring all project outputs strictly adhere to the company's quality assurance systems before final issue.
Required Expertise
- Deep Technical Knowledge: Must possess exceptional expertise in the primary engineering discipline, coupled with broad foundational knowledge of related services, including Mechanical, Building Management Systems (BMS) / Environmental Performance Management Systems (EPMS), Security, and Civil/Structural/Architectural (CSA) disciplines.
- Regulatory Mastery: Profound understanding of key industry and international design standards and codes (e.g., CIBSE, BS, IS, and EN Standards).
- Design Tools: Competence in utilizing core design and documentation software, including AutoCAD, REVIT, and Bluebeam.
- Software Proficiency: Skilled in the Microsoft Office software suite.
- Analytical Advantage: Experience with additional engineering analysis software is beneficial.
