A globally recognised multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Fire Engineer to join its growing UK Fire Engineering team based in either London or Edinburgh. This is a consultancy-focused Fire Engineering role offering broad project exposure and the opportunity to work closely with multidisciplinary design teams from early-stage concept design through to delivery. You will support the development of innovative and performance-based fire engineering solutions while helping shape the functionality, safety, and architectural vision of complex buildings.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and project managing fire engineering projects
- Assisting with fire strategy development
- Advising multidisciplinary design teams throughout the design process
- Attending internal and external design meetings
- Supporting client consultancy and stakeholder engagement
- Assisting with project financial monitoring and invoicing
- Carrying out fire engineering calculations
- Supporting smoke modelling and evacuation analysis
- Developing knowledge around fixed fire protection systems including suppression and detection solutions
- Working within BIM-led project environments
This role offers excellent exposure to both prescriptive and performance-based fire engineering methodologies within a true consultancy setting. You will work with industry-leading software and technical platforms including:
- FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator)
- PyroSim
- Pathfinder
- Revit
- AutoCAD
- Navisworks
- Bluebeam
- BIM & CFD modelling platforms
Previous CFD modelling exposure is welcomed but not essential.
You will ideally possess:
- A degree or higher qualification in Engineering or Fire Safety
- Professional experience delivering fire engineering solutions on UK-based projects
- Strong understanding of UK fire safety regulations and guidance
- Exposure to performance-based fire engineering solutions
- Good communication and consultancy skills
- A collaborative and technically motivated approach
