We're recruiting for a Senior Fire Alarm Engineer (Office Based) to join a leading global manufacturer of fire and electronic security systems. You'll become a trusted technical expert, supporting installers, engineers and customers from a modern office environment, whilst still putting your engineering experience to good use every day.

Salary: £42,000 - £46,000

Location: Manchester (Office Based)

Hours: Monday to Friday

The Role

This isn't a call centre role. It's a technical position where you'll become one of the company's product specialists, providing expert advice and support to customers and engineers. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical support via telephone, email and remote diagnostics
  • Helping customers diagnose and resolve technical faults
  • Supporting engineers with installation, commissioning and programming queries
  • Creating technical documentation and knowledge articles
  • Assisting with product testing and evaluating new technologies
  • Supporting quotations and technical specifications
  • Identifying customer training opportunities
  • Working closely with the sales and technical teams
  • Occasionally attending customer sites to assist with commissioning or complex technical issues
  • Expanding your knowledge across additional electronic security product ranges as your experience grows.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer with strong technical knowledge who enjoys fault finding and solving complex problems. You'll ideally have experience of:

  • Installing, commissioning and servicing addressable and conventional fire alarm systems
  • Programming, configuring and testing fire alarm control panels
  • Diagnosing electrical and electronic faults on commercial fire detection systems
  • Reading wiring diagrams, schematics and technical documentation
  • Supporting customers, colleagues or subcontractors with technical queries
  • Working on commercial, industrial or public sector fire alarm installations

You'll have hands-on experience with one or more leading fire alarm manufacturers such as:

  • Gent
  • Advanced
  • Kentec
  • C-TEC
  • Protec
  • Morley
  • Notifier
  • Fike
  • Siemens
  • Honeywell

You'll also bring:

  • Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Strong electrical and electronic engineering knowledge
  • A methodical approach to troubleshooting
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly
  • A customer-focused attitude and the confidence to support engineers remotely
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple technical enquiries

It would be advantageous if you've also:

  • Provided technical support over the phone
  • Delivered technical training
  • Produced technical documentation or installation guides
  • Worked with access control, CCTV or wider electronic security systems
  • Knowledge of UK fire legislation and BS 5839.
