On behalf of one of the market's most forward-thinking, sustainable data centre operators, we are seeking a skilled Critical Facilities Technician to join their growing engineering team in Madrid. If you are looking to step away from traditional industrial maintenance and want to accelerate your career within the high-growth, high-reward mission-critical sector, this is your next step.

The Role: Working within a highly sophisticated, state-of-the-art facility, you will ensure 100% continuous uptime of the critical infrastructure. You will be part of a structured, elite shift engineering team responsible for the preventative maintenance, monitoring, and emergency troubleshooting of complex electrical and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Operations: Monitor and operate the Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) to ensure the facility runs within optimal parameters.
  • Electrical Maintenance: Conduct first-line troubleshooting and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on MV/LV electrical distribution, UPS networks, static transfer switches, and emergency standby generators.
  • Cooling & HVAC: Oversee high-efficiency cooling infrastructure, including chilled water systems, CRAH/CRAC units, and modern heat rejection systems designed for the Iberian climate.
  • Vendor & Incident Management: Escalate issues effectively, manage external specialist contractors on site, and ensure all works strictly adhere to Method Statements (RAMS) and Permit to Work (PTW) protocols.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively contribute to site energy-efficiency initiatives, aiming to optimize Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and water consumption metrics.

What Our Client Is Looking For:

  • A solid technical background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (e.g., Formación Profesional Grado Superior / Medio in Electricity, Automation, Climate Control, or equivalent trade qualification).
  • Previous experience maintaining critical, continuous-operation environments (Data Centres, Hospitals, Pharmaceutical plants, Marine engineering, or heavy automated manufacturing).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a cool head when handling critical alarms or unexpected infrastructure incidents.
  • Professional fluency in Spanish is essential, alongside a working knowledge of technical English (for working with international documentation and remote support teams).

What’s in it for you?

  • Market-Leading Compensation: A highly competitive base salary tailored to your experience level, plus a generous shift premium.
  • Career Fast-Track: Clear, structured pathways into Shift Lead, Facilities Management, or Technical Specialist positions as our client continues to build new phases and sites across Spain.
  • World-Class Training: Direct access to vendor-specific training (e.g., specialized UPS, Generator, and Chiller certifications) to keep your skills at the absolute cutting edge.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Premium private health insurance, life assurance, and meal allowances.
