Senior Back-End Engineer (Python/Django) | Remote (UK-based)

Eligible is on a mission to eliminate financial anxiety and distress for every mortgage customer. We already support over 1,000,000 consumers and manage £100bn+ in mortgages through partnerships with leading financial institutions.

As we scale, we’re looking for a Senior Back-End Engineer to take ownership of the core systems, APIs, and data workflows that power our platform. This is a senior role: you’ll influence architecture, shape our data layer, and deliver backend systems that scale.

What you\'ll you

  • Lead backend development in Python/Django
  • Design & deliver scalable APIs and services
  • Optimise data models and pipelines for insights & ML
  • Manage deployments & scaling in AWS/Heroku
  • Champion clean, testable, maintainable code
  • Contribute to technical direction & architecture

What we\'re looking for

  • Deep experience with Python, Django, PostgreSQL
  • Strong track record with backend architecture & APIs
  • Hands-on with AWS (RDS, S3, Redshift, EC2, CloudFormation)
  • Background in data modelling & pipelines
  • Experience in fast-moving product environments

Bonus points

  • Regulated industries (finance/insurance/health)
  • Large-scale system redesigns or product launches
  • Event-driven architectures or ML-driven products
