This pivotal role leads market access strategy across the UK and Ireland oncology and haematology portfolio, driving pricing, reimbursement, and access (PRA) plans nationally, subnationally, and within the private healthcare market. Navigating NHS complexity, NICE technology appraisals, and the growing private oncology sector, you will work cross-functionally with marketing, digital, business analytics, ethics & compliance, medical, sales, and the global team.

The role also includes developing oncology and haematology and informing the Global development teams on UK payer needs to influence global strategy and ensure Lilly UK is fully prepared to maximise new product launches.

Pricing, Reimbursement, and Access Strategy
  • Take Full Ownership: Leading the PRA strategy, ensuring comprehensive national and subnational access plans across the franchise, including both NHS and private market channels.
  • Deep Understanding of the NHS & HTA Environment: Understand the national and local NHS environment, NICE technology appraisal processes, CDF mechanisms, and commissioning pathways to inform PRA strategy and the value proposition.
  • Develop Winning Strategies: Deliver a payer strategy, value proposition, and objectives for the brands in partnership with the core cross-functional team and field-based PRA team, incorporating evidence generation and real-world data where relevant.
  • Implement PRA Strategies: Own execution through development of business cases and field-based tools. Ensure clear monitoring through robust Key Performance Indicators.
  • Collaborate for Success: Work closely with the Health Economics team on reimbursement strategies and new product planning. Partner with Brand, Pricing, and Commercial teams to align execution to PRA strategy and secure local and Global approvals.
  • Influence and Integrate: Shape brand forecasts, strategic initiatives, and key player objectives by ensuring payer and market access factors are incorporated into annual customer plans.
  • Develop Private Market Access Strategy: Define and implement a clear market access strategy for the oncology and haematology portfolio within the UK private healthcare sector, including private hospitals, clinics, and insurers.
Payer Planning & New Product Development
  • Drive Early Pricing Discussions: Lead the input into early pricing discussions, representing the UK position and providing additional external insight to support optimal pricing outcomes.
  • Inform Global Strategy: Ensure Global development teams understand UK payer needs, influencing global strategy for UK fit and ensuring readiness for new product launches.
Operational Implementation & Key Account Support
  • Collaborate with Field Teams: Partner with field-based teams (Value and Access Managers) to understand accounts and local priorities, providing strategic support to achieve access and remove or mitigate access blocks across NHS trusts and private providers.
  • Create Payer Materials: Design and implement payer materials, toolkits, and programmes beyond the products, ensuring strategic initiatives are executed within compliance boundaries.
  • Influence and Adopt Global Materials: Adapt global payer materials for the VAM team, facilitating productive and timely discussions with payers across NHS and private settings.
  • Align with Health Economics Team: Work closely with the Health Economics Team to develop health economic payer materials.
Leading PRA Efforts on the Cross-Functional Team(s)
  • Be the Key Contact: Serve as the primary point of contact for all payer-related activities, facilitating smooth communication between head office and field teams, working closely with the Value & Access Lead (VAL).
  • Lead Strategic Planning: Drive the PRA component in customer and operational planning, including strategic initiatives and key tactics for NHS and private payer customers; coordinate with Global PRA teams for strategic alignment.
Essential Skills / Preferences
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification
  • Strong Market Access & NHS knowledge
  • Ownership and accountability: ability to lead on key deliverables, collaborating and delivering with autonomy
  • Strategic thinking: able to synthesise large volumes of information into clear priorities and operational plans
  • Drive for excellence and impact, with confidence to take on new challenges and manage multiple projects

  • External engagement: experience of stakeholder engagement and delivery of collaborative projects with NHS and/or private sector (e.g., Ad Boards, Consultancies, Joint Working)
  • In-depth environmental knowledge: exceptional understanding of NHS policy, oncology commissioning, and the ABPI code
  • Experience working in Oncology and/or Haematology
  • Experience working with private healthcare payers, insurers, or private hospital networks
  • Experience working with external NHS customers
